Beginning Bellydance
(level 1)
Also referred to as Middle Eastern or Oriental dance, Bellydance is a gentle workout that both tones the muscles and builds
confidence. We will focus on learning basic movements of bellydance while building muscle memory and control. As the students
progress, we will continue drilling basic movements while learning short choreographies. This class is based on material from
Level 1 of the Suhaila Salimpour format of bellydance.
Beginning Bellydance
(level 2)
This class is the next step after one has mastered Level 1. It introduces layering and various foot combinations as well as
continued work on technique and muscle memory. It is based on material from Level 1 and 2 of the Suhaila Salimpour bellydance
format.
Drills with Zills (finger cymbals)
This class focuses on the art of playing finger cymbals. You will begin by drilling basic zill patterns and gradually learn
more complex patterns and layering them with other movements. If you don't own a pair of zills, you are welcome to come anyway
as generally we have at least one extra pair on hand!
Raqs Fusion Dance Ensemble
Raqs Fusion is the performance troupe lead by Petite Nadirah. You must have permission to join and are encouraged to take
a technique class along with attending weekly Raqs Fusion choreography practice.
